INDEPENDENCE & FUNDING

Who pays for Wharfa, and who doesn't

Wharfa is funded by its subscribers: the importers, forwarders, transport operators and software platforms who use the data. That's the complete list.

No money from the charging side

We accept no funding, sponsorship, advertising, commission, or data-supply payment from any carrier, stevedore, terminal, park operator, or port authority whose charges we track. Not because they've offered and we've refused, but because the product only works if the answer to "who do you work for" is permanently boring.

No paid placement

No publisher can pay to be included, excluded, re-ordered, or described differently. Coverage decisions follow one rule: does the charge land on an ANZ import container?

Published without a byline

Wharfa is currently published institutionally rather than under individual names. Every number carries its source document, its capture date and its verification status, so provenance does the work a byline usually does: the byline is the archive. Accountability is the part that matters, and it is concrete. Corrections are published and dated rather than quietly edited, and questions get an answer in writing at [email protected]. If we put a name to the masthead, this page will say so.

If our situation ever changes

Investment, acquisition, any commercial relationship with a covered publisher: this page changes first, prominently, before anything else does.
